ABOUT

Massive ancient architecture, statues of warriors and a fiery sunset over the vast Roman Empire kingdom: these are the images that welcome players to Nero's Fortune, the third tumble slot from Pragmatic Play.

Betting Options and Bonus Features

Nero's Fortune has a unique 5x5 grid and is a bit more compact compared to other tumble titles from Quickspin. The game boasts a 96.21% RTP and a 8,100x max win. Set in the war time of the Roman Empire amidst great turbulence, it makes perfect sense that the volatility level here is the highest it could be.

Beside the silver case letter symbols (J, Q, K, A), Nero's Fortune has 4 premium symbols: eagle, wolf, lion and red diamond. Although the red diamond is a bit out of place thematically, it sure pays the heftiest at 150x the stakes for a 12+ cluster. Assisting players in the base game are wild symbols, tumbling reels feature, and Burning Arrows feature.

The wild symbol as always becomes a substitute for everything but scatters. Plus, thanks to the tumbling reels feature, every winning cluster will disappear for new symbols to tumble down. In contrast to some other tumbling slots, each tumble in Nero's Fortune does not trigger an increased multiplier. But don't worry, the Burning Arrows feature more than makes up for it. When a cluster win happens, a random number of arrows can be shot onto the reels; these arrows mark hidden multipliers that only reveal their value when the symbols in those spots contribute to a subsequent win.

If players collect 3 to 5 Bonus Scatter symbols, they will receive 10, 12, or 14 free bonus spins respectively. When the Flames of Nero bonus game begins, hidden multipliers are placed under random symbols every spin, and as soon as they are revealed by a win, these multipliers are accumulated until the end of the round. Thus, every win thereafter will be multiplied accordingly. However, the free spins feature cannot be retriggered.

Roshtein's Take

Nero's Fortune is a very solid tumble slot: oftentimes when slot games have tumbling reels as their main selling point, they tend to be quite over the top with features. Now that can be fun, don't get me wrong, but sometimes online casinos need a slot like Nero's Fortune where features are sparse but purposeful.

The Burning Arrows is my favorite part about the game because it's like a more volatile version of the usual cascading multipliers. Instead of simply landing consecutive wins, you have to win in particular spots: sure sounds like unnecessary self-torture but the multiplier you receive can be 10x rather than 2x. And of course, a compliment has to be paid to the free-spin bonus round. It is nothing you haven't seen before but show me a slot player who isn't turned on by accumulated multipliers and I'll show you a liar.
