ABOUT
Hacksaw Gaming's latest throws it back to the Stone Age, and the star of the show is about as subtle as a club to the head. Grug Make Fire follows its namesake caveman as he glowers over a 5x4 grid, having just discovered the one thing that's about to change everything for him: fire. The comic-book art style goes all in on thick outlines and theatrical dinosaur expressions, with a genuinely intimidating T-rex saved for the game's top bonus round.
It's a high-volatility slot running on 14 fixed paylines, with an RTP of 96.19% and a 10,000x max win on the table. Ten royals cover the low pays, 5 dinosaurs handle the bigger hits, and wilds sub in across the board, but the real engine here is what happens when things start burning.

Betting Options and Bonus Features
Staking in Grug Make Fire is kept simple, adjust your bet per spin directly from the panel beneath the reels, with all 14 paylines locked in and active no matter what you're wagering. There's no need to fiddle with coin values or bet levels separately, and autoplay is on hand for anyone who wants to run through spins without clicking through each one.
The mechanic that actually drives the whole game is the Burning Wild. When one lands, it sets fire to every pay symbol and scatter sitting on the reel directly above it. Low pays caught in the blaze transform into standard wilds, while dinosaurs get promoted into Burnt Wild Multipliers worth anywhere from x2 to x200 — and if one of those lands as part of a winning combo, its multiplier applies across every connected win on that spin.
Scatters carry their own value too, shown as a number between 2 and 5. Land 3 or more, and the total across them determines how many free spins you're sent into. Scatters caught by a Burning Wild get upgraded as well, coming out the other side worth 3 to 6.
Landing 3 scatters triggers Grug Find Food, worth 6 to 18 free spins. The base game rules carry over, but Burning Wilds show up more frequently, and any scatter landed during the round adds 1-3 extra spins (2-4 if it's been burnt).
Four scatters trigger Grug Fight Dino, worth 8 to 24 free spins and home to the game's biggest swings. Alongside the mechanics from Grug Find Food, a Wildlife Bar tracks progress outside the grid, climbing through levels as winning symbols accumulate — 12 symbols for Level 1 (1 Burnt Reel), 46 for Level 2 (2 Burnt Reels), 96 for Level 3 (3 Burnt Reels), and 150 for Level 4 (4-5 Burnt Reels). Once Level 4 is reached, the Bar stays there for the rest of the round, meaning Burnt Reels torch the board on every remaining spin.
For players who'd rather skip straight to the action, four feature buys are available:
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins – 5x the bet, makes bonus triggers 10 times more likely across your spins
- Grug Play FeatureSpins – 50x the bet, guarantees at least one Burning Wild lands on the spin
- Grug Find Food – 100x the bet, buys straight into the first bonus round
- Grug Fight Dino – 200x the bet, buys directly into the higher-tier bonus round

Roshtein’s Take
Grug Make Fire actually earns its fire. What gets me is how the board keeps changing shape, one Burning Wild and suddenly you've got a x200 multiplier sitting where a dinosaur used to be. That Wildlife Bar in Grug Fight Dino is the real hook for me, though. Once it hits Level 4, every spin is torching the reels, and that's when this game starts feeling properly dangerous.
High volatility, sure, but the 10,000x ceiling makes the grind worth it. If you've watched me hunt bonuses before, you know I'll be buying straight into Grug Fight Dino more than a few times. This one's got teeth.
