Fruit Duel by Hacksaw Gaming is a modern twist on the traditional 3-reel fruit machine concept. It features simple but colorful fruit symbols that serve as your paying symbols. These will land on a 3x3 gameplay grid and your goal is to land 3-of-a-kind combinations on one of the 17 paylines.

Depending on which of the 8 fruit symbols you land, you can win between 0.1x and 5x your stake. A special wild symbol can also appear to help you form these combinations. The two remaining fruit symbols on the activated reel will obtain a multiplier value of x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, x75, or x100. They’ll proceed to battle each other in a fruit duel. The fruit that wins will apply its multiplier value to the whole reel, boosting any of your winning combinations.

DuelReels gets even better in the bonus game which can be triggered by landing 3 free spins symbols. Your background will transform into a dim night cycle and you’ll get 10 free spins. During these, your chance to trigger the DuelReels feature is increased and you’ll also be more likely to get higher value multipliers. 

The last feature of Fruit Duels is a bonus buy option. It's located on the left-hand side and lets you choose between two separate special options.

Roshtein’s Take

At first glance, Fruit Duel looks bland and basic. A small 3x3 reel grid, a few paylines, and a dry, cartoonish background design. The game even introduces itself as a “lower volatility game” in the intro screen. The game does a great job of subverting your expectations. Yet, all of those presumptions couldn’t be further from the truth!

The game can pack a hell of a punch if you want it to. The duel mechanic is super fun, especially when you activate FeatureSpins. Each spin has you at the edge of your seat because the result can truly just explode in your face. You probably saw exactly that when Fruit Duels surprised me with multiple seven-figure wins on stream!
