Book of Time is an homage to one of Hacksaw Gaming’s original characters, Canny The Can, from their very first slot game - Stick ‘Em. Canny The Can is also in Hacksaw Gaming’s 2019 follow-up title Stack ‘Em so this is Canny’s third appearance in the popular studio’s portfolio. 

Much like the original games, Book of Time slot has a charming art style reminiscent of old-school cartoons. The gameplay is set on a 5x4 reel grid with 20 paylines and 10 unique pay symbols. These symbols pay between 0.50x to 250x the stake.

Although you can receive decent payouts in the base game, the real money makers are the Free Spins bonus games. The first one is triggered by landing at least 3 Book scatters anywhere on the grid. Called “It’s a Classic!”, this bonus round has 10 free spins and one special expanding symbol. The number of free spins and special symbols can be increased by landing more scatters.

Once your bonus round starts, your randomly chosen special symbol expands to cover the entire reel if you land at least 3 of these symbols. A full line payout will be rewarded through Hacksaw Gaming’s pay anywhere feature regardless of whether they're adjacent.

You can further retrigger this feature by landing 3 additional Book scatters during the free spins game. This will grant you 5 extra spins and one more special symbol. You can have a total of 3 special expanding symbols active at a time.

The second bonus round of Book of Time is the highly volatile feature called "What Time is it?". You’ll need special Clock Man Scatters to activate it. They appear anywhere on the reels and you’ll need 3 of them to trigger the feature.

You get 10 free spins, and 3 new clocks appear above the middle reels. When a Clock Activator symbol appears on the middle 3 reels, it creates Wild Multiplier Clock symbols that spread from the top and fill all positions until they replace the triggering symbol. The Wild Multiplier is determined by the clock above it, and it can be between x2 and x12. If you have more than one wild in a winning combination, their multipliers are added together.

Book of Time is an awesome slot with stunning visuals and straight-to-point gameplay. It’s true that the base game has literally zero features but let’s face it, no one plays slots for the base game. Hacksaw Gaming doesn’t beat around the bush and makes it very clear that the bonus games are the highlight here. Having said that, out of the two the "What Time is it?" bonus is by far superior.
