Zombie Carnival by Pragmatic Play is a 6x4 online slot with a massive number of paylines. There are, overall, 4,096 ways to win in which you need to connect 3-6 matching symbols. The premium symbols in this game are colorful zombie characters that pay between 0.80x up to 10x your stake.

The game features a classic wild symbol that substitutes for others, however, it is not available in the base game. To compensate for this fact, the game features another special symbol - the so-called “Mystery Symbol”. 

It is illustrated by a wrapped gift box and can land anywhere on the reels in both the base game and bonus game. Whenever landed, these symbols open up and transform into a random paying symbol. Mystery symbols don’t land frequently but when they do, they come in bunches which can lead to some pretty amazing wins.

The bonus game revolves around the scatter symbol, which has a brain icon. Scatter symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. Landing two or more will trigger the free spins bonus game.

The round starts with 6 free spins and unlocks the zombie bear wilds. These wild symbols appear out of nowhere and in true zombie fashion, eat your brain scatters. The zombie bear symbols will then take the former position of your scatter and become sticky. Besides contributing to your winning combinations, the zombie bear wilds also move around.

Whenever a brain scatter lands on the reels during the bonus round, the closest zombie bear wild will move to its place and consume it. This will upgrade the wild and give it a +1 multiplier as well as increase your free spins by +1. Furthermore, anytime a spin has more scatters than wilds, the leftover uneaten brain scatters will transform into additional wild symbols.

Finally, the game also features a bonus buy option. It is located on the left-hand side of the reels and costs 80x your stake. This will ensure that at least 2 scatters are landed on your next spin, triggering the free spins feature.

Roshtein’s Take

Very frustrating game to play. You really need to hit 3+ scatters/wilds early in the game to have some meaningful action. Having just 2 of those bears rarely amounts to any big win. You’ll be lucky to break even. And, considering that most bonus games have just 2 bears wilds, it’s hard to say this game is worth it. That being said though, the game has the potential to pay when the circumstances are right.
