The original Wild Blood came out so long ago that it seemed like Play N’ Go had completely forgotten about it. But for whatever reason, the studio decides that vampires are back in the meta after 7 years. So get ready for some gothic vibes, creepy music, and try to protect the three beautiful heroines from the fang of the vampire.
Betting Options and Bonus Features
In terms of appearance, there have been significant changes from the original version of the game, but this is to be expected after almost a decade. However, the game grid has been expanded from 5 to 6 reels, and an additional row has been added, increasing the total number of winning combinations from 15 to 4,096. The RTP is slightly higher than the original at 96.18% and the max win is 5,000x.
There are 10 symbols in the base game that can result in a win, with card royals being the lower-paying one. Skulls and daggers appear in the mid-range, and the premiums feature three ladies - Laura, Margaret, and Rebeca. Each heroine is worth the same reward of 7.5x the stake for six of a kind. Overall symbol values are relatively low, which is suitable for a medium volatility game with a rating of 5/10.
There are a variety of impressive features available in the game, the first of which is the dashing vampire Wild symbol which appears on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. But when it lands on the 6th reel, it is stacked and the Vampire Bat Respin feature is triggered. This feature consists of a single respin, and the stacked wild is moved to the first reel. It's important to note that the Vampire Bat Respins cannot be retriggered, nor can they trigger free spins.
The vial of blood symbol serves as the Scatter and landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters awards 10, 15, 20, or 25 free spins in the Bloodlust Free Spins feature, respectively. During this free spins bonus, players can choose from three different options:
- Laura: Every Wild that appears spreads one position either up or down. If the Vampire Bat Respins are triggered during this option, then all Laura symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 turn Wild for the respin.
- Margaret: Every time a Wild lands, it is collected. When four Wilds have been collected, the overall win multiplier increases by +1 and two free spins are added. The multiplier reaches its maximum value of 5x. If the Vampire Bat Respin is triggered, all Margaret symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 turn Wild for that respin.
- Rebecca: Each Wild that appears during the round comes with a multiplier of either 2x or 3x. If multiple wilds appear, their multipliers can be combined up to a maximum of 81x. If the Vampire Bat Respin is triggered during this feature, then the Rebecca symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 also turn Wild for that spin.
The Margaret bonus cannot be retriggered while for Laura and Rebecca, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 more free spins can be obtained by landing 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters.
Roshtein’s Take
Vampire Blood 2 is quite mid, or above average if I’m being optimistic. I’ll give a big plus to the developers for at least trying to improve upon the original. And while the online slot successfully plays out like a different game, some of the options in its bonus round are quite underwhelming compared to the others (the Laura bonus is definitely the least rewarding). That being said, the fact that players have 3 variations to choose from does improve the replayability of the game.
