ABOUT

Forget colorful and fruity slots. NoLimit City is here with one of their biggest controversial freaks ever created. A truly ‘mental’ experience situated in an insane asylum. Perform lobotomies, autopsies and generally try to just keep your mind sane for when you play Mental.

Betting Options and Bonus Features

Besides the insane aesthetic, Mental is quite the complicated slot with a 3-2-3-2-3 grid. One might go so far as to say, you’ll go ‘mental’ wrapping your head around the rules. Within the base game, with each spin, every 1-13 position on the reels will randomly be lit on fire. This Fire Frame splits a symbol into two and creates an identical one.

These Fire Frames also activate your Enhancer Cells that are located at the bottom of reel 2 and reel 4. If you manage to lit up enough Fire Frames these otherwise empty Enhancer Cells will open up and transform into:

  • Classic Wild symbol
  • Patient premium symbol
  • Dead Patient symbol - Receive a multiplier ranging from 5x to 999x by triggering 2 dead patient symbols
  • xWays - reveals 3 matching symbols
  • xSplit - splits a symbol on each reel into two, and splits itself into 2 wilds
  • xNudge - nudges to become visible and each nudge increases the win multiplier by 1

You can also achieve the same effect with the Mental Transform feature, which is triggered by landing spider symbols. Within this base game ruleset, you’ll aim to trigger three different bonus games. Autopsy Free Spins, Lobotomy Free Spins, and Mental Free Spins.

Each of these has its own peculiar and unsettling themes, however, Mental Free Spins are the ones with the most payout potential. All the bonus games are moreover available to access instantly with the bonus buy free spins feature.

Although quite complex learning all there is to know is well worth your time as you’ll have a chance to get the 66,666x max win. Beware though, winning this jackpot comes with a price. You’ll have to personally amputate the hands of one of the insane asylum patients. An animation so gruesome it has been banned in many jurisdictions. Play this slot at your own discretion!

Roshtein’s Take

Since when did you need a Ph.D. to be able to understand a slot? Why do you do things so hard? It feels like NoLimit has lost it a bit or gone ‘mental’ even. I honestly think that the game is not created by game enthusiasts but represents a cool concept. I guess you have to have ugly apples in a basket for the others to look good.
